The 2024 HLPF’s theme is “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and Eradicating Poverty in Times of Multiple Crises: The Effective Delivery of Sustainable, Resilient, and Innovative Solutions” (A/DEC/77/553). This forum will focus on a thorough review of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely: Goal 1 (End poverty in all its forms everywhere), Goal 2 (End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture), Goal 13 (Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts), Goal 16 (Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels), and Goal 17 (Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development).

This year’s HLPF marks the first forum under the ECOSOC’s auspices following the 2023 SDG Summit. The 2024 forum aims to bolster the implementation of the Political Declaration and other outcomes from the SDG Summit to advance the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

Numerous countries, including Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belize, Brazil, Chad, Colombia, Congo (Republic of), Costa Rica, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Georgia, Guinea, Honduras, Kenya, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Libya, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Namibia, Nepal, Oman, Palau, Peru, Samoa, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Sudan, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Uganda, Vanuatu, Yemen, and Zimbabwe have declared their intent to conduct voluntary national reviews (VNRs) at the HLPF to evaluate their progress toward the 2030 Agenda.

Additional events, such as side events, VNR Labs, special events, and an exhibition, will also be organized alongside the main 2024 HLPF sessions.
