The Nepal Global South Summit – GSFN Annual Conference 2024 invites scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and community leaders to engage in meaningful discourse and collaborative action on sustainability and development. Scheduled for 18–20 December 2024, this online event from Kathmandu, Nepal, will feature a diverse range of sessions and discussions aimed at driving progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The summit will be led by Dr Ujjwal Amatya, a seasoned professional who has dedicated over two decades to strengthening resilience, advancing climate adaptation, and promoting food security. In his current role as Country Director for Mission East Nepal, Dr Amatya has guided initiatives funded by various international donors and has substantial expertise in areas ranging from disaster risk reduction and climate-smart agriculture to urban and rural development. His commitment to robust organisational management and engagement with bilateral organisations, private donors, and academic institutions ensures a constructive and inclusive environment for all attendees.

The central theme, “Amplifying Impact,” underscores the importance of innovative solutions that translate research into tangible outcomes. Through a series of thematic sessions, participants will examine critical topics such as climate resilience, green technology and innovation, women’s and youth empowerment, carbon footprint reduction, and community-led sustainability. Alongside expert-led panels, the conference will feature evidence-based case studies and collaborative workshops. These will encourage participants to share insights, exchange knowledge, and foster enduring partnerships.

An essential highlight is the GSFN Awards Ceremony, which recognises excellence in sustainable development efforts. Delegates are encouraged to submit their self-nominations, showcasing impactful work within their organisations or as individuals.
