Historically World Expos have been platforms for global innovation and cultural exchange showcasing groundbreaking technologies and ideas that later integrate into daily life. The Osaka Expo 1970 symbolized Japan’s rapid economic advancement and the upcoming expo is poised to continue this legacy. It will address global challenges through the integration of cyber and physical systems under the theme of “Society 5.0.” This concept seeks to create a human-centered society that uses advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) Artificial Intelligence (AI) robotics big data and biotechnology to drive economic progression and resolve social issues.
Expo 2025 will serve as a crucial platform for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as it coincides with the final five years leading up to the 2030 target set by the United Nations. The event’s theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” includes three subthemes: Saving Lives Empowering Lives and Connecting Lives. It will transform into a living lab where participants from around the globe will not only view innovative exhibits but also engage in co-creating solutions for future societal challenges.
The venue will feature a diverse array of pavilions from various countries and private sectors along with initiatives focused on sustainability and a co-design challenge aimed at establishing best practices in global sustainability. The 184-day event is designed to be a dynamic space for interaction facilitating a meeting of minds across cultures and disciplines to foster the development of new ideas and technologies that will shape the future of humanity.
