The seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention (BC COP-17) is scheduled to take place from 28 April to 9 May 2025 at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG), located at 17 rue de Varembé, Geneva, Switzerland. This significant event brings together global stakeholders to address pressing issues in the sound management of chemicals and wastes.

Convening under the theme, “Make visible the invisible: sound management of chemicals and wastes,” the conference will focus on enhancing transparency and action in tackling waste-related challenges. A high-level segmentwill be held on the afternoon of 30 April and the morning of 1 May 2025, fostering dialogue among decision-makers, experts, and international organisations.

Aligned with the Basel Convention, the event will run alongside the twelfth meetings of the Rotterdam (RC COP-12) and Stockholm Conventions (SC COP-12), creating a collaborative platform for addressing environmental governance comprehensively. Preparatory meetings are set for 27 April 2025.
