The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is a biennial event where leaders from the 56 Commonwealth countries gather to discuss global challenges and collaborate on key issues. The 2024 CHOGM will be held in Apia, Samoa, from 21-26 October, marking the first time it will take place in a Pacific Small Island Developing State.

The event’s theme, ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’, focuses on building resilience, unlocking potential, and fostering a connected, digital Commonwealth. Discussions will centre on global economic, environmental, and security challenges, with a particular emphasis on empowering the 1.5 billion young people within the Commonwealth.

In the lead-up to CHOGM, various forums will be held, including the Commonwealth Women’s Forum, Commonwealth Youth Forum, Commonwealth People’s Forum, and Commonwealth Business Forum. These forums aim to amplify the voices of women, youth, civil society, and business leaders.

Media accreditation is now open for the event, allowing journalists to apply for credentials through an online process. The review and approval process is ongoing, and successful applicants will be notified after security clearance.

CHOGM 2024 is expected to further the Commonwealth’s goal of a peaceful, sustainable future by fostering collaboration across its diverse membership.
